Dental Implants

At Formosa Dental Arts, we strive to protect and maintain your oral health. Our goal is to have a practice full of healthy patients! We focus on helping our patients retain their natural teeth whenever possible because it is the best way to protect your dental health and your wallet.

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, tooth loss is inevitable. Dr. Alexander Chang and our entire team work to educate our patients on tooth replacement options if extractions become necessary. Most dentists will agree that the tooth-replacement option with the most favorable results is dental implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants consist of three parts: the implant itself, the abutment, and the custom dental implant crown.

Dental implant – A dental implant mimics your natural tooth’s root in the form of a biocompatible titanium screw. The implant will, over a period of 4 to 6 months, integrate with your body’s natural bone and become stable – just like your roots.

Implant abutment – An abutment attaches to your dental implant and provides a base for your crown. We use custom abutments to ensure proper fit.

Dental implant crown – This is the visible portion of your dental implant. At Formosa Dental Arts, we create custom dental crowns to match your existing teeth. Precise care goes into the creation of each dental implant crown to ensure that your crown fits properly with your adjacent and opposing teeth. The color of your dental implant will match your teeth and look natural when you smile.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants provide a number of benefits for our patients. Among them are their longevity and reliability. When properly designed and restored, dental implants can last many years – even decades – providing you with exceptional convenience and function.

Dental implants also help to retain your bone structure. When tooth loss occurs, bone loss often follows. Since dental implants integrate with your jawbone, they reduce or prevent bone loss.

Many patients desire convenience! Dental implants do not require any special tools or products for routine home care. You can brush and floss normally. Regular dental exams and professional dental cleanings will support the longevity of your dental implant.

Perhaps best of all, you do not need to limit your diet with dental implants. You can eat all your favorite foods, including crunchy fruits and vegetables. This can lead to better health overall.

Implant-Retained Dentistry

If you have multiple missing teeth and you are considering a fixed dental bridge or dentures to replace your teeth, let us know. A few dental implants can secure your dentistry in place, providing better overall fit and function.

Dental implant bridges use a combination of one or more dental implants combined with a fixed dental bridge to enjoy the benefits of both types of treatment.

Implant-retained dentures allow your denture to lock into place and prohibit your denture from moving or coming loose.

We consider a number of factors when it comes to replacing missing teeth for our patients. Your best option depends largely upon your goals for your smile. Here are the options we offer in our Irvine, CA dental office:

Fixed dental bridge – We place crowns on the teeth adjacent to your missing tooth and anchor an artificial tooth in place, filling the gap in your smile. A fixed dental bridge can complete your smile and keep your teeth from shifting, but does not prevent bone loss. We create custom dental bridges to match your existing smile.

Partial denture – A partial denture can replace multiple missing teeth. We provide esthetic, comfortable, and functional partial dentures that allow our patients to smile confidently again.

Dental implants – Considered the best replacement for missing teeth by most surgeons and dentists, dental implants replace missing teeth using a titanium screw that naturally integrates with your jawbone. Dental implants keep your remaining teeth from shifting, are highly esthetic and stable, and provide reliable long-term solutions to tooth loss.

To discover your options, contact Formosa Dental Arts today. An evaluation with Dr. Alexander Chang will help to answer your questions and make a decision that gives you a healthy, confident smile.
